The Shine of Manuscripts
Step into a windswept corner of early medieval Ireland, where stone monasteries rose from the mist and quiet scriptoria shimmered with gold leaf and bright pigments. In this archaeological expedition, you’ll uncover precious artifacts, restore an Irish-themed exhibition, and bring a glow of learning back to your city’s museum.
Dates: January 22–30
New to archaeological expeditions? You can find all the details about them here.

Where we’re going
We’re traveling to the early Middle Ages, when monastic communities in Ireland preserved knowledge by hand creating manuscripts that still astonish with their artistry.
Architecturally, it's the age of Early Gothic style (late 12th–13th centuries), a style marked by pointed arches, slender lancet windows, and rib vaults and flying buttresses, allowing taller walls and more light.
Notable Irish examples include Christ Church Cathedral (Dublin) and St Canice’s Cathedral (Kilkenny).

What's new
We’ve added a couple of quality-of-life tweaks to make your journey smoother, your energy smarter, and your progress more confident. Here’s what’s changing!
1) Production-Ready Notification
Problem: Sometimes players move on to the next area and forget to collect a finished expedition energy can from the Field Kitchen.
Solution: When a production item in the expedition is ready, you’ll now see a notification icon.
How it works (example):
You start crafting an expedition energy can. While it’s cooking, you keep exploring the expedition map. The moment the can is ready, a small on-screen icon pops up and stays visible until you collect your item. Click on the icon to jump straight to the building and claim the item. The notification will only be available in the expedition location, you won't see it in other game locations.

2) Limiting Early Crafting of Quest Items
Problem: Players often rush to produce a large batch of quest items as soon as they discover a building for these items. This can drain resources that are also needed to clear the map—slowing (or even blocking) expedition progress.
Solution: In select expedition production buildings, we’re introducing a limit that prevents making quest items in advance (before a current task asks for them).
How it works (example):
Suppose your current task requires 2 archaeology brushes. You head to the workshop and craft exactly those 2. Crafting more will be temporarily unavailable because the task only needs 2 right now.
After you complete this task, brush production will still be locked until you reach the next quest that requires them.
To unlock production for a quest item, the target building that needs those items must first be cleared of fog.
When an item is locked, you’ll see a padlock icon under it; hovering over the lock shows the following message: “You don't need this resource yet.”

New exposition: The Shine of Manuscripts

The exhibits of the Irish exposition are: Decorative Tile, Reliquary, Celtic Vase, Manuscript Page, Malahide Castle, Medieval Dress, Irish Harp.
Bring each exhibit back to its former glory to complete the set and light up your Archaeological Museum with a brilliant display dedicated to Medieval Ireland.
After you fully restore the exhibition, be sure to place it in one of the museum rooms straight away for additional limited-time bonuses! Bonuses include main game coins, main game energy, lucky cards, and seasonal currency. You can collect them from the Archaeological Museum every 24 hours for 16 days.
Complete all seven before the expedition ends to earn the special Golden Manuscript trophy (details in Rewards below).
Side activities (to make the journey livelier)
To keep the road to the main goal fun and rewarding, look out for these activities during the event:
Always-on for the whole event
- Rarities Race (duels): Face off in hour-long energy duels with another player. Spend more expedition energy during the hour to win.
- Gift Race: Pick up gift boxes on the expedition field for milestone prizes.
- Gold Hunt: Open wooden crates on the field, collect golden cups, and climb a rewards ladder.
- Shards Accumulation: Finish tasks to earn tiny shards; after the expedition ends, claim gifts on a timer.
Limited-time activities
1) Club Boom
This is a side activity allowing you to earn more excavation points. Just play the expedition as usual and spend expedition energy. Each 1000 units of expedition energy you spend will bring you excavation points and help your club reach higher goals.
- Launch 1: January 22 to 23, duration: 24 hours.
- Launch 2: January 27 to 28, duration: 24 hours.

2) Gift-Giving Party
It is a side activity that allows you to get rewards for spending expedition energy. Play the expedition as usual and spend energy there. This earns you party tickets, which you can use in the Gift-Giving Party activity window to get great rewards!
Duration: January 25 to 27 (2 days).

Dedicated sale: unique buildings from past expeditions
Throughout this launch, the in-game store will feature a sale of unique buildings from previous expeditions—a perfect chance to expand your themed collections at a great discount.
Please note: only unique buildings participate in this sale. Therefore, you’ll see only the buildings you don’t already own in the sale window.
Rewards
Golden Manuscript: available for completing the whole Irish exposition before the expedition ends

Scriptorium: available as part of the club rating reward

Irish Abbey: available for collecting 2500 valuable finds

Tips for a glowing expedition
- Play in short sessions a few times a day: your energy regenerates steadily, so pop in, make progress, and come back for another burst.
- Chase synergies: doing tasks also feeds side activities (duels, races, shards), multiplying your rewards as you go.
- Finish the exhibition early: doing so ensures you'll receive the olden trophy; it’s only granted if all seven exhibits are restored before January 30.
May your ink never blot and your museum sparkle!
